The 15 Best Jordan VI Retro Releases Of All Time

As we are in the midst of celebrating the 23-Year Anniversary of the Air Jordan VI in 2014, we highlight the top 15 Jordan 6 Retro releases to date. And it doesn’t hurt to take a look back as we are also on the cusp of the retro release for the Jordan 6 ‘Carmine.’ In addition, many heads already have Black Friday circled on their calendars for this year as the coveted black/infrared colorway is slated to make its return. While the 6 is definitely one of the most beloved silhouettes in the Jordan stable, please take a look and let us know which colorway ranks number one all time for you in the comments section below!

Air Jordan 6 Retro Low White/University Blue

Release Year(s): 2002

Much like the black/silver pair, this low top colorway was also perfectly executed. A clean white upper with hits of university blue, these are certainly a pair you can wear with plenty of options.

Air Jordan 6 Retro Low Black/Metallic Silver

Release Year(s): 2002

For the first time ever, the Air Jordan VI was released as a low top in 2002. One of three colorways released, this black and silver pair complete with its all-nubuck upper was a pair you definitely couldn’t pass on even as a low.

Air Jordan 6 Retro "Oreo"

Release Year(s): 2010

This was easily one of the cleaner colorways of the Air Jordan 6 Retro from 2010. Coming in white and black, the added speckles on the midsole instantly allowed heads to dub these the “Oreo” editions and also added a little more flavor.

Air Jordan 6 Retro "GMP"

Release Year(s): 2012

An early stage sample for the original “DMP” that was later changed to the black-based colorway we are all familiar with. Six years later, they were resurrected for the “GMP” pack and did not disappoint.

Air Jordan 6 Retro White/Varsity Red

Release Year(s): 2010

Before the white/infrared colorway was confirmed, this was the pair everyone was looking forward to. Since the black-based pair had been retro’ed a few times and this white-based pair hadn’t been seen since 1991, these, like the black/varsity red’s, worked out just fine.

Air Jordan 6 Retro Black/Varsity Red

Release Year(s): 2010

After ten years since the black/infrared drop, it was time for a comeback. Even though this pair features ‘Varsity Red,’ it was close enough for fans to be happy with until the ‘Infrared’s’ next return.

Air Jordan 6 Retro White/Navy

Release Year(s): 2000

Simple and clean. This was the third and final Air Jordan 6 Retro release of 2000. In a time when retro’s were still a new thing, just a simple switch from red to blue made these an easy cop.

Air Jordan 6 Retro "Doernbecher"

Release Year(s): 2009

This was the third Jordan x Doernbecher release and it definitely did not disappoint. Designed by Jordan Dark, the full navy blue suede upper with red and gold accents finished off by a full icy translucent outsole, a first for the Jordan VI, took the shoe to a whole new level.

Air Jordan 6 Retro "Motorsports"

Release Year(s): 2010

This was the first and only Air Jordan retro ‘Jordan Motorsports’ exclusive that released to the public. Coming in a clean white and black colorway featuring a premium leather upper with cement print lining and a smoky grey sole, this pair is on point.

Air Jordan 6 Retro "Olympic"

Release Year(s): 2000 and 2012

The first new colorway of the Air Jordan VI since its inception, these jewels were rocked on-court by Ray Allen during the 2000 Olympics. One of the most sought after pairs, it was no surprise that when they dropped again in 2012 as a GR, they disappeared just as quickly as the limited 2000 release.

Air Jordan 6 Retro White/Infrared

Release Year(s): 2010 and 2014

Even though the white and varsity red colorway dropped a month prior in 2010, and to a wider audience, nothing beats an OG colorway…limited or not. After dropping exclusively in the ‘Infrared’ Pack, fans were excited to see this colorway drop as a GR earlier this year.

Air Jordan 6 Retro Infrared 23/Black

Release Year(s): 2014

An instant classic, this new colorway of the Air Jordan 6 Retro has been one of the most sought after releases of 2014. This ‘flipped’ version was welcomed with open arms by fans of the AJ VI and even managed to sell out before their OG white/infrared counterpart as they dropped alongside each other.

Air Jordan 6 Retro "DMP"

Release Year(s): 2006

A part of the first ever pack from Jordan Brand alongside the iconic ‘Concord’ Air Jordan XI, this new colorway with its all-black frame and gold accents was a perfect pairing with the XI. This iteration easily combines with arguably the most beloved Jordan silo to comprise the best pack ever produced.

Air Jordan 6 Retro 'Carmine'

Release Year(s): 2008 and 2014

After years of waiting, arguably the most popular Air Jordan VI was finally retro’ed for the first time in 2008 as a part of the Jordan Collezione series. Even though it’s only been six years, people already cannot wait for their return once again this weekend…as in tomorrow!

Air Jordan 6 Retro Black/Infrared

Release Year(s): 2000 and 2010

Clearly a fan favorite and the first Air Jordan VI ever released. Whether you hold the coveted 2000 edition with ‘Nike Air’ on the back, the 2010 ‘Infrared’ Pack edition or are waiting for this year’s Black Friday re-release, it’s no question why we chose these OGs as the best Air Jordan 6 Retro release of all time.
