The 15 Best Jordans Featuring Reflective 3M

On the cusp of the ‘Reflective Silver’ Jordan 13 Retro releasing this weekend, we rank the 15 best Jordans to feature the flashy 3M material over the years. It all started back in 1990. Reflective 3M made its infamous debut on a basketball shoe with the original Air Jordan V. Since then, 3M has been used on numerous Jordans, both as an accent as well as the main feature. It’s no secret that the V is most synonymous with 3M in the Jordan line, but the XIII has had its fair share of hits with the flash. Take a look and let us know in the comments section below which ranks as your all-time favorite Jordan with reflective 3M.

Air Jordan 6 Retro "Lakers"

Release Year(s): 2010

When Jordan Brand released a series of Air Jordan 6 Retro’s in 2010, they didn’t hold anything back. All combined different materials on the upper and this “Lakers” edition was no exception. This pair in particular features a black-based leather upper with multi-color contrast stitching and 3M accents throughout.

Air Jordan 8 Retro Women’s 'Aqua'

Release Year(s): 2007

This women’s edition of the Air Jordan 8 Retro was done so well, guys wanted a pair too. Known as the ‘White Aqua’ edition, similar to Chris Paul’s PEs, they feature a white-based upper with purple and teal accents, and 3M detailing around the heel.

Air Jordan 1 SB QS 'Craig Stecyk'

Release Year(s): 2014

After years of rumors, an Air Jordan SB was finally released in 2014. This pair, designed by Craig Stecyk, was the first released. Featuring a spray paint-like design throughout the upper, 3M detailing could be found on the tongue and ankle collar.

Air Jordan 2 Retro "Silver Anniversary"

Release Year(s): 2010

What’s an anniversary without some flash? Reflective 3M came to the Air Jordan 2 Retro as Jordan Brand celebrated its Silver Anniversary in 2010. This pair came in a clean white and grey colorway, featuring 3M detailing on the tongue, as well as throughout the upper.

Air Jordan Future Premium 'Infrared 23' & 'Glow'

Release Year(s): 2014

The Future started off with a bang. A new silhouette from Jordan Brand, each premium release (to date) has featured hits of 3M throughout the woven uppers, including the initial ‘Glow’ and ‘Infrared 23′ releases.

Air Jordan 5LAB3 'Black'

Release Year(s): 2014

After the Air Jordan III met the Air Jordan V, it was time for them to do a swap. Que in the Air Jordan 5LAB3. This pair was the second of the two in the series and featured an all-black 3M upper along with a translucent icy-blue outsole.

Air Jordan 5 Retro "Green Bean"

Release Year(s): 2006

Ever wonder what the Air Jordan V would look like if they took the 3M element on the tongue and applied it to the entire upper? Well, this 2006 retro made that a reality as it was the first Air Jordan V to feature a full 3M upper. The kid’s got the bone, however, since only the men’s pairs featured this look, the smaller sizes sported a nubuck upper instead.

Air Jordan 5LAB3 'Silver'

Release Year(s): 2014

Releasing nearly a couple months before the ‘Black’ pair, the ‘Silver’ 5LAB3 turned out to be the more popular of the two and this iteration also featured a translucent outsole. For those who wanted to shine bright in a pair of IIIs, Jordan certainly delivered the goods with this drop.

Air Jordan 9 Retro "Doernbecher"

Release Year(s): 2012

The Air Jordan 9 Retro was the first Jordan x Doernbecher release to utilize 3M. They went all-out with this pair, as it featured a full 3M upper as well as hits of 3M throughout the black strip.

Air Jordan 5 Retro Premio "Bin 23"

Release Year(s): 2011

The “Bin 23″ series came to an end in 2011. But this Air Jordan 5 Retro was the final pair released, and they feature the AJ5s signature 3M tongue, along with the rich premium black leather upper and icy sole.

Air Jordan XIII "Flint"

Release Year(s): 1998 and 2005

Not your traditional original Bulls colorway, but this OG XIII was a fan favorite from the start. With its combination of different shades of blue throughout the white-based upper with grey accents, the pop of 3M within the mesh is what really made these pairs standout. Each version of this release has featured 3M on it, with the exception of the most recent drop in 2010.

Air Jordan XIII "Bred"

Release Year(s): 1998 and 2004

A classic colorway, simple and clean. The added pop of 3M throughout the mesh on the upper was a nice touch. However, only the original 1998 and retro 2004 releases featured 3M as the 2013 retro did not.

Air Jordan 5 Retro "Raging Bulls" Pack

Release Year(s): 2009

We couldn’t pick just one, so we went with the complete “Raging Bulls” Pack for this entry. While the black-based pair featured an all 3M upper, the red suede pair sported flashy 3M on the tongue.

Air Jordan V White/Black-Fire Red

Release Year(s): 1990, 2000, 2008 and 2013

It’s hard to put this at number two, but as far as colorway goes, only one can reign supreme. That mean’s someone has to come in second. So, even though this is the first pair to sport 3M, we had to place them here. A hard decision indeed.

Air Jordan V Black/Black-Metallic Silver

Release Year(s): 1990, 2000, 2007 and 2011

The shoe that started it all, the Air Jordan V. Originally the second colorway released, they also featured 3M detailing on the tongue. Every retro release to date of this pair has also featured the 3M tongue. These will always be a classic and a fan favorite of many.
