Since the Jordan 13 was originally released in 1997, we’ve seen player exclusives designed for both players and teams for over 15 years. Today, we highlight the best. Ray Allen’s “Celtics” Jordan 13 PEs are probably the most well known and visible among the bunch, but players such as Quentin Richardson and college squads such as Kansas and UNC have also been blessed with some dope, exclusive makeups. Take a look and let us know your favorite(s) in the comments section below!
Team Colorway: Sacramento Kings
A fan of low-tops, Mike Bibby could be seen in various Air Jordan 13 Retro Low PEs throughout the 2004-05 NBA season. While he mainly rocked ‘Home’ and ‘Away’ colorways, he did have special make-ups of ‘Hardwood Classics’ and ‘Rewind’ editions to match throwback Kings uniforms. No biggie.
Team Colorway: Indiana Pacers
Simple and clean best describes Fred Jones’ Air Jordan 13 Retro PE. They come in white, yellow and navy, and more specifically a white-based upper, yellow accents and a navy blue sole.
Team Colorway: Houston Rockets
Kevin Martin was one of the most recent players to receive a PE edition of the Air Jordan 13 Retro. This pair comes in white, red and grey, featuring a white-based leather upper with red covering the mesh side panels and grey serving as the accent color. Certainly similar to the ‘Flint Grey’ makeup, but with red in place of french blue.
Team Colorway: Miami Heat)
Eddie Jones’ Air Jordan 13 Retro PEs kept it simple and straight forward. Matching his Heat uniform as easy as possible, his ‘Away’ pair was the traditional black/red colorway while his home pair came in an exclusive white/red colorway.
Team Colorway: Washington Wizards
Josh Howard’s Air Jordan 13 Retro PE was made for him while he played for the Washington Wizards (2009-11). They feature a white-based upper with blue accents, a black midsole and gold outsole.
Team Colorway: Phoenix Suns
Quentin Richardson is a veteran Jordan Brand member. With that under his belt, he has had his fair share of player exclusives, including a few colorways of the Air Jordan 13 Retro while he was playing for the Suns. Keeping it simple, they came in black/orange, white/orange and white/purple-orange.
University of Kansas
Team Colorway: Kansas Jayhawks
These are one of the first team-based Air Jordan PEs made. Before the Jayhawks left for adidas, they were a Jordan Brand team. During that time they had special make-ups of some of the first Team Jordans as well as the original Air Jordan XIII, featuring a white-based upper with red accents and a blue sole.
Team Colorway: Charlotte Bobcats
When you play for MJ, it sometimes comes with a few perks. For Gerald Wallace, it came in the form of ‘Home’ and ‘Away’ editions of the Air Jordan 13 Retro. Both pairs featured his nickname on the tongue (like most AJ13 PEs) and in colorways to match the Bobcats team colors at the time.
Team Colorway: Atlanta Hawks
Sometimes simple color blocking can go a long way. That is definitely the case with Joe Johnson’s “Hawks” Air Jordan 13 Retro PEs. The ‘Away’ colorway comes in black and navy with an orange sole, while the ‘Home’ colorway is decked out in white and navy. Two pairs most of us wouldn’t mind seeing releases for.
Team Colorway: Miami Heat
Dwyane Wade might not have been with Jordan Brand for a long time, but he did have some great PEs. Both of his Air Jordan 13 Retro’s are definitely two of the best. A new twist on the black and red colorway, adding some yellow along with a clean white, red and yellow colorway for ‘Home’ were nice updates to the AJ13.
Team Colorway: Orlando Magic
It’s no surprise to see Q-Rich on this list twice. Especially when each version was made for a different team. His Orlando Magic pairs far supersede his Suns pairs. The ‘Away’ edition in a clean black and blue along with the ‘Home’ edition in white, black and blue cannot be overlooked.
University of North Carolina
Team Colorway: North Carolina Tar Heels
It wouldn’t be right if UNC wasn’t represented on this list. Along with the Jayhawks, the Tar Heels too received a PE edition of the original Air Jordan XIII. Coming in a clean white and carolina blue colorway, we all would’ve liked to see these release. The “UNC” logo on the inside of the shoe was a nice addition as well.
Team Colorway: Denver Nuggets
Ever since Melo joined Jordan Brand and began wearing Nuggets colorways, the buzz began. When he received two PE colorways before he left for New York, it was a nice surprise for fans and PE collectors. Both colorways are equal to one another, and executed perfectly.
Team Colorway: New Orleans Hornets
The purple and teal colors of the Hornets have always been a popular combination on footwear and apparel. Colors we would’ve loved to see release. While most of us imagined what “Hornets” Air Jordan 13s would look like, that dream became a reality after CP3 was blessed with ‘Home’ and ‘Away’ editions prior to him moving to LA.
Team Colorway: Boston Celtics
When you think of Jordan Brand, or just PEs in general, you think of Ray Allen. A Team Jordan member since day one, he has had one of, if not the best PE selection to date. While he did have some Sonics editions, it was his two “Celtics” Air Jordan 13 Retro PEs that take the cake. The ‘Away’ colorway in that clean black and green and the ‘Home’ in white and green compliment Boston’s uniforms as perfect as Jesus Shuttlesworth’s jumper. Add in the fact that he wore the ‘Home’ colorway when he broke the NBA’s all-time three-point record and you have a no-brainer for the #1 spot.
