The 15 Best Jordan 13 PEs

Drake

Team Colorway: New Orleans Hornets

The purple and teal colors of the Hornets have always been a popular combination on footwear and apparel. Colors we would’ve loved to see release. While most of us imagined what “Hornets” Air Jordan 13s would look like, that dream became a reality after CP3 was blessed with ‘Home’ and ‘Away’ editions prior to him moving to LA.

Mike Bibby

Team Colorway: Sacramento Kings

A fan of low-tops, Mike Bibby could be seen in various Air Jordan 13 Retro Low PEs throughout the 2004-05 NBA season. While he mainly rocked ‘Home’ and ‘Away’ colorways, he did have special make-ups of ‘Hardwood Classics’ and ‘Rewind’ editions to match throwback Kings uniforms. No biggie.

Fred Jones

Team Colorway: Indiana Pacers

Simple and clean best describes Fred Jones’ Air Jordan 13 Retro PE. They come in white, yellow and navy, and more specifically a white-based upper, yellow accents and a navy blue sole.

Kevin Martin

Team Colorway: Houston Rockets

Kevin Martin was one of the most recent players to receive a PE edition of the Air Jordan 13 Retro. This pair comes in white, red and grey, featuring a white-based leather upper with red covering the mesh side panels and grey serving as the accent color. Certainly similar to the ‘Flint Grey’ makeup, but with red in place of french blue.

Eddie Jones

Team Colorway: Miami Heat)

Eddie Jones’ Air Jordan 13 Retro PEs kept it simple and straight forward. Matching his Heat uniform as easy as possible, his ‘Away’ pair was the traditional black/red colorway while his home pair came in an exclusive white/red colorway.

Josh Howard

Team Colorway: Washington Wizards

Josh Howard’s Air Jordan 13 Retro PE was made for him while he played for the Washington Wizards (2009-11). They feature a white-based upper with blue accents, a black midsole and gold outsole.

Quentin Richardson

Team Colorway: Phoenix Suns

Quentin Richardson is a veteran Jordan Brand member. With that under his belt, he has had his fair share of player exclusives, including a few colorways of the Air Jordan 13 Retro while he was playing for the Suns. Keeping it simple, they came in black/orange, white/orange and white/purple-orange.

University of Kansas

Team Colorway: Kansas Jayhawks

These are one of the first team-based Air Jordan PEs made. Before the Jayhawks left for adidas, they were a Jordan Brand team. During that time they had special make-ups of some of the first Team Jordans as well as the original Air Jordan XIII, featuring a white-based upper with red accents and a blue sole.

Gerald Wallace

Team Colorway: Charlotte Bobcats

When you play for MJ, it sometimes comes with a few perks. For Gerald Wallace, it came in the form of ‘Home’ and ‘Away’ editions of the Air Jordan 13 Retro. Both pairs featured his nickname on the tongue (like most AJ13 PEs) and in colorways to match the Bobcats team colors at the time.

Joe Johnson

Team Colorway: Atlanta Hawks

Sometimes simple color blocking can go a long way. That is definitely the case with Joe Johnson’s “Hawks” Air Jordan 13 Retro PEs. The ‘Away’ colorway comes in black and navy with an orange sole, while the ‘Home’ colorway is decked out in white and navy. Two pairs most of us wouldn’t mind seeing releases for.

Dwyane Wade

Team Colorway: Miami Heat

Dwyane Wade might not have been with Jordan Brand for a long time, but he did have some great PEs. Both of his Air Jordan 13 Retro’s are definitely two of the best. A new twist on the black and red colorway, adding some yellow along with a clean white, red and yellow colorway for ‘Home’ were nice updates to the AJ13.

Quentin Richardson

Team Colorway: Orlando Magic

It’s no surprise to see Q-Rich on this list twice. Especially when each version was made for a different team. His Orlando Magic pairs far supersede his Suns pairs. The ‘Away’ edition in a clean black and blue along with the ‘Home’ edition in white, black and blue cannot be overlooked.

University of North Carolina

Team Colorway: North Carolina Tar Heels

It wouldn’t be right if UNC wasn’t represented on this list. Along with the Jayhawks, the Tar Heels too received a PE edition of the original Air Jordan XIII. Coming in a clean white and carolina blue colorway, we all would’ve liked to see these release. The “UNC” logo on the inside of the shoe was a nice addition as well.

Carmelo Anthony

Team Colorway: Denver Nuggets

Ever since Melo joined Jordan Brand and began wearing Nuggets colorways, the buzz began. When he received two PE colorways before he left for New York, it was a nice surprise for fans and PE collectors. Both colorways are equal to one another, and executed perfectly.

Chris Paul

Team Colorway: New Orleans Hornets

The purple and teal colors of the Hornets have always been a popular combination on footwear and apparel. Colors we would’ve loved to see release. While most of us imagined what “Hornets” Air Jordan 13s would look like, that dream became a reality after CP3 was blessed with ‘Home’ and ‘Away’ editions prior to him moving to LA.

Ray Allen

Team Colorway: Boston Celtics

When you think of Jordan Brand, or just PEs in general, you think of Ray Allen. A Team Jordan member since day one, he has had one of, if not the best PE selection to date. While he did have some Sonics editions, it was his two “Celtics” Air Jordan 13 Retro PEs that take the cake. The ‘Away’ colorway in that clean black and green and the ‘Home’ in white and green compliment Boston’s uniforms as perfect as Jesus Shuttlesworth’s jumper. Add in the fact that he wore the ‘Home’ colorway when he broke the NBA’s all-time three-point record and you have a no-brainer for the #1 spot.

The 25 Best Dunking Photos Featuring Air Jordans

Ray Allen

Year: 2006
Sneaker: Air Jordan V “Hornets” PE

You don’t see CP3 throw down very often. So when you do, it’s usually pretty memorable. But we love this dunk for many reasons. First, peep the kicks. Paul’s rocking some of the best PEs of all time, the Air Jordan V “Hornets” PE. Secondly, look at WHO he’s dunking on. That’s a point guard dunking on Dwight “3-time Defensive Player of the Year” Howard. Now that’s memorable.

Michael Jordan

Year: 1991
Sneaker: Air Jordan VI Black/Infrared

Oooh, Jordan go SMASH! And while rocking some of our all time favorite Js? Ouch. Recently, MJ called this throw down on longtime rival Patrick Ewing, his most memorable dunk. And you can bet Ewing remembers it too, because Jordan won’t let him! Saying he reminds him of it every time they see each other! That’s cold-blooded.

jordan2

Chris Paul

Year: 2006
Sneaker: Air Jordan V “Hornets” PE

You don’t see CP3 throw down very often. So when you do, it’s usually pretty memorable. But we love this dunk for many reasons. First, peep the kicks. Paul’s rocking some of the best PEs of all time, the Air Jordan V “Hornets” PE. Secondly, look at WHO he’s dunking on. That’s a point guard dunking on Dwight “3-time Defensive Player of the Year” Howard. Now that’s memorable.

Kobe Bryant

Year: 2003
Sneaker: Air Jordan III “True Blue”

Catching the Black Mamba in a moment of vicious assault-by-dunking isn’t too uncommon. But, what is rare is catching such a perfect photo while he’s throwing down in some Air Jordans! Here he is in the 2003 NBA All-Star Game showing kids how it’s done in the Air Jordan III “True Blue.” A true classic.

Michael Jordan

Year: 1997
Sneaker: Air Jordan XII “Playoffs”

Another instance that shows MJ’s formidable cold-bloodedness was the time he braved the high altitudes, and summmit’d Mt. Mutumbo. Funny back story here; there is actually video floating around the interwebs, of MJ and Dikembe talking trash to each other in pre-game. Mutumbo tells Jordan he could never dunk on him, and Jordan takes that challenge. Which is why MJ gave him that nasty facial with a taste of the finger wag.

jordan4

Dwyane Wade

Year: 2011
Sneaker: Air Jordan 2011

This gem is from one of the battles between the Heat and Thunder in 2011. And though the focus in the shot isn’t on the dope Air Jordan 2011’s DWade is wearing, it gets extra credit for the viciousness of the dunk. Just look at the expression on K-Perk’s face..he knows he’s going to be hearing about this one later.

J.R. Smith

Year: 2010
Sneaker: Air Jordan XI ‘Cool Grey’

J.R. Smith is one of those love em’ or hate em’ kind of players. But, we love his energy AND his footwear. Just peep this dunk from 2010, where he sported the always-excellent ‘Cool Grey’ Air Jordan XIs.

Ray Allen

Year: 2001
Sneaker: Air Jordan XVI

We love this one. Not only is RayRay one of our favorite players, but you almost never see him dunk…at least lately in his career. So when you do, you know it’s going to be nasty. Just take a look at this one, from back in 2001, when he smashed on none other than Tracy McGrady, while rocking some dope XVIs. A little extra credit for hanging on the rim there too!

Michael Jordan

Year: 1985
Sneaker: Air Jordan I Black/Red

One of our all-time favorite MJ dunks comes from the NBA Dunk Contest in 1985. Not only is His Airness rocking the awesome black/red 1s, but check the tube socks and the double gold chain! And even though MJ ended up losing to Dominique in this one, MJ definitely took home the win on style points.

Gerald Wallace

Year: 2009
Sneaker: Air Jordan XIII PE

Anyone who’s been watching Gerald Wallace’s career long enough knows two things: 1) He rocks dope Js, like these fantastic Charlotte Bobcats PE XIIIs from 2009, and 2) The boy can GET UP! Here is Crash showing Lamar Odom how high he can jump.

Russell Westbrook

Year: 2013
Sneaker: Air Jordan III PE

We all know Russell Westbrook as the lightning-quick Thunder Point Guard, and flagship Jordan Brand NBA player. So, we’re used to seeing him in the latest-and-greatest from JB. However, don’t forget, Westbrook got them PEs too! Just check out these ridiculous “Thunder” Air Jordan III PEs. Antawn Jamison certainly got a look at ’em while Russ smashed on him. Nasty!

Dwyane Wade

Year: 2009
Sneaker: Air Jordan 2010

Truthfully, we’re not huge fans of the overall aesthetic of the Air Jordan 2010. However, the PE version D-Wade laced up during the 2010 NBA All-Star game was dope. He also had a few pretty impressive dunks in that one.

Kobe Bryant

Year: 2003
Sneaker: Air Jordan III PE

Now, as you may know, in 2003, Kobe was between sneaker deals, and he spent much of his games rocking what have become some of the most highly-coveted Air Jordan PEs ever. Just look at these gorgeous Air Jordan IIIs he sported while SMASHING on the 7″7′ Yao Ming. Damn.

J.R. Smith

Year: 2012
Sneaker: Air Jordan XII ‘Cool Grey’

Like most of us, J.R. Smith really likes the ‘Cool Grey’ colorway, because whenever he’s had a pair on, he’s throwing down on somebody. Here he is in 2012, sporting ‘Cool Grey’ XIIs and wowing everyone in the building with the ridiculous reverse alley-oop. Yes. REVERSE ALLEY-OOP. This one was dirty!

Michael Jordan

Year: 1987
Sneaker: Air Jordan II

Another image that hits us right in the nostalgia bone is this beauty, from the 1987 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. MJ set the bar high in his first Dunk Contest victory with this killer cradle dunk, while rocking the gorgeous Air Jordan II. This one just conjures up memories of posters from our 3rd grade bedroom.

Carmelo Anthony

Year: 2004
Sneaker: Air Jordan XIX

The Air Jordan XIX is another one of those love-it or leave-it silhouettes, and for a long time, we were on the fence. It’s certainly not a look that everyone can pull off. But we think Carmelo does so quite nicely as he crams this one home with style, in 2004.

Eddie Jones

Year: 1997
Sneaker: Air Jordan XI Black/Red

Eddie Jones was such an awesome player. Mostly known for his Lakers days, and popularizing the Team Jordan line, EJ also rocked some Air Jordan funk too. Like here, in 1997, when he was rocking the black/red Air Jordan XI. This one brings us back.

Kawhi Leonard

Year: 2014
Sneaker: Jordan XX8 SE

In just this past year’s Western Conference Finals, budding star Kawhi Leonard threw down a thunderous dunk, with the left hand no less, against Serge Ibaka while wearing Jordan XX8 SEs. Just peep the awesome pic which captures the posterization from above.

Russell Westbrook

Year: 2013
Sneaker: Air Jordan X PE

As we’ve said previously, we love the Air Jordan X, and feel like it doesn’t get enough love in the grand scheme of things. Which is why we loved to see Russell Westbrook break out these dope PEs not once, but twice in the 2013 season. While these black OKC PEs are fantastic, he also broke out a clean white pair as well.

Chris Paul

Year: 2008
Sneaker: Air Jordan XX3 PE

Here’s CP3, yet again, killin’ the game with some amazing Air Jordan XX3 PEs. We love the Air Jordan XX3, and hope they start retro’ing them soon. Starting with this fantastic PE from around 2008.

Carmelo Anthony

Year: 2005
Sneaker: Air Jordan XX PE

While you may always think of Melo rocking his own Jordan Brand signatures, don’t forget; he also sported a bunch of really awesome PEs. Particularly in his early days as a Denver Nugget. We’re really feeling these fantastic “Nuggets” Air Jordan XXs. These are dope.

Michael Jordan

Year: 1996
Sneaker: Air Jordan XI “Columbia”

For those old enough, who could forget the 1996 NBA All-Star Game? Widely considered the “best” All-Star Game ever, and not just because of the laundry list of future hall-of-famers involved, but also because of the style. Oohhh the style! Just look at MJ killing ’em in the previously-unseen “Columbia” Air Jordan XI. Stunting on ’em!

Penny Hardaway

Year: 1993
Sneaker: Air Jordan IX PE

In his early days with the Magic, before he established his own fantastic Nike signatures, Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway had that Jordan HEAT! Here he is circa 1993 sporting some excellent “Orlando Magic” Air Jordan IX PEs. Beautiful. You know, with Penny on Nike’s retro payroll, we’d be surprised if we didn’t see these beauties retro at some point in the future.

Michael Jordan

Year: 1992
Sneaker: Air Jordan VII “Olympic”

MJ has an absurd amount of Olympic highlights. But we’re particularly fond of these nasty dunks he busted out in the 1992 Olympics, in Barcelona. Rocking the Air Jordan VII “Olympic,” MJ made mince meat out of the competition, along with the rest of the ridiculous Dream Team. Even the opposition can’t help but look on in awe.

Charles Barkley

Year: 1999
Sneaker: Air Jordan XIV “Candy Cane”

We love this photo from 1999. And not just because Charles Barkley is one of our favorite NBA players ever. Knowing his heated rivalry with MJ, and knowing his excellent sneaker line(s), this one is special. Seeing Chuck throw it down with authority like this, while wearing Air Jordan XIVs makes us think he lost a bet or something!

Michael Jordan

Year: 1988
Sneaker: Air Jordan III White/Cement

If you’re of a certain age range, this image/poster conjures up the fondest memories of the NBA’s golden era. From the 1988 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, Jordan set the world ablaze with his iconic dunk from the free throw line. And, while people had dunked from that far back before, nobody (NOBODY) ever did it with as much style and authority as Air Jordan. Especially while rocking those White/Cement IIIs. Quite simply, the most classic of classic dunking photos featuring Air Jordans.

25 Awesome Magazine Shoots Featuring Jordans

Michael Jordan

Jordan in shoot: Jordan 7 “Bordeaux”
Magazine: ESPN The Magazine
Year: February 2014

Chris Paul has more fire Air Jordans than even the most seasoned collector. But for the cover shoot of the February 2014 ESPN The Magazine, he went with our favorite Air Jordan VII, the fantastic “Bordeaux” colorway. Can’t go wrong with that!

Eminem

Jordan in shoot: Jordan 4 ‘Fire Red’
Magazine: Sole Collector
Year: 2009 (Issue 28)

A lot of new sneakerheads might sleep on Slim Shady’s footwear collection. But slow down, because Em has crazy heat! Like the classic ‘Fire Red’ Air Jordan IVs he sported on the cover of Sole Collector’s 28th issue.

Michael Jordan

Jordan in shoot: Jordan 7 “Hare”
Magazine: GQ
Year: February 2011

We love this cover of February 2011’s GQ magazine. In it’s feature of the 25 coolest athletes of all time, MJ took the cover with a throwback shot from 1992, where he was rocking the always perfect “Hare” Air Jordan VII.

2012 Kentucky Wildcats

Jordans in shoot: Jordan 10 “Old Royal” and Jordan 13 “Flint”
Magazine: ESPN The Magaine
Year: March 2012

As evidenced by the cover of a March 2012 ESPN the Magazine issue (oh, and their National Title), the Kentucky Wildcats had a ridiculous basketball team. Just peep the footwear of Davis, Jones and MKG. Nice work, gentlemen.

Blake Griffin

Jordan in shoot: Jordan I Retro High OG “Black Toe”
Magazine: ESPN The Magazine
Year: May 2013

As a flagship Jordan Brand athlete, Blake Griffin has his pick of whatever Js he wants. For the cover of the May 2013 ESPN The Magazine BG went with a classic: the Air Jordan I “Black Toe.”

Michael Jordan

Jordan in shoot: Jordan 4 Black/Cement
Magazine: GQ
Year: March 1989

Sure, Jordans are all the rage in fashion today, but this is awesome because it shows how far back the Air Jordan line’s influence on the fashion world goes. March 1989’s GQ magazine was MJ’s first cover for the mag, and – in the feature – he was of course rocking the latest and greatest Jordan of the moment: the iconic Black/Cement Air Jordan IV.

Tinker Hatfield

Jordan in shoot: Jordan 4 “Oregon Ducks” Black
Magazine: Sole Collector
Year: 2013 (Issue 42)

We love Sole Collector’s inspiring sneaker reporting and awesome covers, and their Issue 42 feature on design legend Tinker Hatfield is no exception. Although we are a little salty about this one, because Tinker is showcasing the amazing “Oregon Ducks” Air Jordan IVs…the ones that never released to the public. Come on JB!

Usher

Jordan in shoot: Jordan 11 ‘Gold’
Magazine: Nylon
Year: July 2014

Speaking of getting salty, here is Usher Raymond just crushing your sneaker collection in these thus-far-unreleased all-gold Air Jordan XIs. Come on MAN!

Jabari Parker

Jordan in shoot: Jordan 12 “Playoffs”
Magazine: Sports Illustrated
Year: May 2012

We’ve all been watching Chicago phenom Jabari Parker’s ascendance to the NBA. And with his recent addition to Team Jordan, it’s clear JB has been too. But Parker has been rocking Js since his not-too-distance high school days. Here he is in the May 2012 issue of SI, rocking the always excellent “Playoff” Air Jordan XII.

Chris Paul

Jordan in shoot: Jordan 7 “Bordeaux”
Magazine: ESPN The Magazine
Year: February 2014

Chris Paul has more fire Air Jordans than even the most seasoned collector. But for the cover shoot of the February 2014 ESPN The Magazine, he went with our favorite Air Jordan VII, the fantastic “Bordeaux” colorway. Can’t go wrong with that!

Jay Z

Jordan in shoot: Jordan 4 “Mars Blackmon”
Magazine: XXL
Year: December 2006

This one is a bit of a throwback. Here is Jay Z in the December ’06 issue of XXL rocking the dope “Mars” Air Jordan IVs. Hova’s always got classics.

Michael Jordan

Jordan in shoot: Jordan I High Black/Red
Magazine: KICKS by SLAM
Year: August 2007

Produced by SLAM magazine, KICKS could have gone with any sneaker photo they wanted for their 10th anniversary issue. But, as it usually does for us; it always comes back to the black/red Air Jordan I. Perhaps the most important basketball shoe of all time.

Keegan Bradley

Jordan in shoot: Jordan 3 White/Black-Infrared 23
Magazine: Golf Digest
Year: July 2014

Though not an official member of Team Jordan (yet), pro golfer Keegan Bradley is MJ’s neighbor, golf buddy and “friend of the brand.” This much has been evidenced in recent months with Bradley stunting on Instagram with crazy PEs. Here he is on the cover of July 2014’s Golf Digest rocking some “Infrared 23″ IIIs.

Anthony Davis

Jordan in shoot: Jordan 10 “Old Royal”
Magazine: Sports Illustrated
Year: March 2012

One cover in March of 2012 wasn’t enough for Ant Davis, he was also caught on the cover of Sports Illustrated’s March Madness preview. And again, he was seen rocking his apparent favorite Air Jordan X, the clean ‘Old Royal’ iteration.

Carmelo Anthony

Jordan in shoot: Jordan 4 “Toro”
Magazine: SLAM
Year: November 2012

Carmelo Anthony has been spotted in Jordans in so many places it’s hard to keep track. But we were paying attention in November of 2012, when he was featured in SLAM Magazine wearing some amazing all-red Air Jordan IVs. Now, this was a full year and a half before we had a look at the Air Jordan IV “Toro,” so you can bet we were hyped.

Michael Jordan

Jordan in shoot: Jordan 13 “Playoffs”
Magazine: SLAM
Year: August 1998

MJ has too many magazine covers to count, but this one from August 1998’s SLAM Magazine stood out because of those dope “Playoff” XIIIs.

Nate Robinson

Jordans in shoot: Too many!
Magazine: ESPN The Magazine
Year: April 2013

If you’ve been paying attention in recent years, you know Nate Robinson’s got some crazy sneaker game. And back in April 2013’s issue of ESPN The Magazine, Nate’s collection was featured in detail. At the time, he said he’s got over 150 pairs of Jordans alone and, in the banner image, you best believe Nate came correct. Bin 23 Vs FTW!

Victor Cruz

Jordan in shoot: Jordan 9 “Crawfish” or “Bentley Ellis”
Magazine: Glamour
Year: February 2013

If you didn’t already know, Giants receiving stud Victor Cruz stays rocking heat. Here he is in February 2013’s issue of Glamour (yes, Glamour) Magazine rocking them Js. We’re a huge fan of the “Bentley Ellis” IX.

Michael Jordan / Spike Lee

Jordans in shoot: Jordan 3 Black/Cement and Jordan 3 White/Cement
Magazine: Various (Ad)
Year: 1988

How could we not throw in one of the most iconic sneaker ad shoots of all time? The Best on Earth? Best on Mars? Best in print, period.

Kid Cudi

Jordan in shoot: Jordan 7 “60+ Pack”
Magazine: GQ
Year: November 2009

Before rising to the upper echelons of the rap game, Drake, Wale and Kid Cudi were still being featured in countless “upcoming superstars” features like this one from November 2009’s GQ. And even if Wale’s rocking some fire, Cudi takes the footwear win here with the VIIs from the “60+ Pack.”

Michael Jordan

Jordan in shoot: Jordan 3 ‘Fire Red’
Magazine: Sports Illustrated for Kids
Year: January 1989

Okay, so it’s actually Wednesday, but you could use this one for your #ThrowbackThursday. We actually forgot that SI runs a special kids version of their publication, but our research reminded us of this awesome 1989 cover with MJ rocking the ‘Fire Red’ IIIs.

Kevin Hart

Jordan in shoot: Jordan I Black/Red (modified for comedic purposes)
Magazine: GQ
Year: May 2014

We love this one. Kevin Hart is the man…even if he isn’t as tall as most of them. Here he is in the May 2014 issue of GQ magazine goofing around in some, uh hum, modified black/red Air Jordan Is.

DJ Khaled & Ace Hood

Jordans in shoot: Jordan 3 White/Cement and Jordan 12 “Taxi”
Magazine: The Source
Year: June-July 2013

Sure, catching Khaled in some Js is a common occurrence. But we love the simple colorways featured on the cover of this June/July 2013 issue of The Source. Also, extra credit points to Ace Hood with the “Taxi” XIIs.

Michael Jordan

Jordans in shoot: Jordan 7 “Hare” and Jordan 7 “Bordeaux”
Magazine: Sports Illustrated for Kids
Year: May 1992

Another issue of SI Kids with MJ on the cover, this time in May 1992, with him rocking even more heat. Even if he’s getting dunked on by a girl with the same shoes as he’s got on, His Airness was still looking proper in those “Hare” Jordan VIIs.

Jabari Parker & James Michael Macadoo

Jordans in shoot: Jordan 11 ‘Concord’ and Jordan 3 White/Cement
Magazine: Sports Illustrated
Year: November 2013

Back in May 2012 wasn’t the only time Jabari Parker has been on the cover of SI rocking Js. Here he is again, in Novemer 2013, alongside UNC’s James Michael McAdoo, rocking some straight fire.

Drake

Jordan in shoot: Jordan 3 ‘True Blue’
Magazine: NME Magazine
Year: April 2012

Before officially becoming a member of Team Jordan in December of 2013, Drake could always be regularly seen rocking Js. This particular pic of Drake rocking the ‘True Blue’ Jordan 3s actually comes from the outtakes of his shoot with the British mag.

Kid Cudi

Jordan in shoot: Jordan 3 ‘True Blue’
Magazine: Complex
Year: August/September 2009

Featuring dope illustrations from graffiti artist AUGOR added to the shoot after the fact, Kid Cudi broke out the ‘True Blue’ Jordan IIIs as just one of his footwear selections for his cover feature with Complex Magazine back in 2009.

The 25 Best Players To Wear Jordans On Court

Kid Cudi

Chris Paul’s on-court game is like Goldilocks…every aspect of it is jusssst right. And though he’s got his excellent Jordan Brand signature line, CP3 has also rocked some amazing PEs (both on court and off). We love his Hornets Vs and VIIIs.

Darius Miles

While Darius Miles may not have ever been on a team capable of winning an NBA title, he was a tremendous individual player. And, the high school phenom spent years rocking some dope PEs. We’re particularly fond of his Air Jordan VIIIs and his XIIs.

Derek Anderson

One of the greatest benefits of being a Jordan Brand athlete, especially a journeyman player like Derek Anderson was, is the awesome player exclusives you get. While some might argue getting traded sucks, which happened three times for DA, at least you get new PE colorways!

Quentin Richardson

A member of the Jordan Brand family his entire career, Q Rich has some of the greatest PEs of all time. Even in his rookie season (yeah, all the way back in 2000), he spent most games laced up in various Air Jordan XI colorways. That’s a pretty high bar to set. But, Richardson’s PEs are just top-notch. His “Suns” XIIIs or “Knicks” VIIIs are just gorgeous.

Josh Howard

Josh Howard has been a great role player on some very talented teams. And though he’s yet to get that chip, his feet have looked proper with some awesome PEs. We’re partial to his awesome VIIIs he wore while a member of the Dallas Mavs.

Gilbert Arenas

Another player more likely known as a signature athlete from another brand (in this case, adidas), Agent Zero, aka Gilbert Arenas, has his sneaker game on point. While he’s never been an “official” member of the Jordan Brand family, that NBA paycheck has provided plenty of opportunities for him to stunt on court. Like the time he rocked the “Snakeskin” XI Low, or the ‘University Blue’ VI Lows. The boy’s got style, we’ll give him that. Oh, and his on-court game ain’t bad either.

Gerald Wallace

Gerald “Crash” Wallace’s connection to the Jordan Brand family goes back to his formative years spent with MJ’s Bobcats. When you’re the best player on a team owned by Michael Jordan himself, you best believe you’re gonna get the hook on some clean Js. Our favorites are his excellent Air Jordan XII PEs.

Michael Finley

If this list were judged solely on PEs, Michael Finley would be significantly higher. A longtime member of both the Dallas Mavs and San Antonio Spurs, Finley has some fantastic looking PEs on his resume. Not to mention that NBA title…that helps too.

Eddie Jones

One of the first members of Team Jordan Brand, Eddie Jones is probably best known for popularizing JB’s non-signature sneaker lines like the Jumpman Pro and Pro Quicks. But of course, being one of the founding members of Team Jordan, Mr. Jones also had his pick of excellent PEs to boot.

Glenn Robinson

Speaking of winning a ring, many folks forget that Glenn “Big Dog” Robinson actually won one as well (it had certainly slipped our minds!). And while the most notable part of Big Dog’s sneaker legacy is likely his recently retro’ed Reebok signature, The Rail, Robinson sported some pretty dope Jordans as well.

Mike Bibby

Many tip their caps to Mike Bibby when discussing the greatest PE Jordan game of all time and, while researching this article, we certainly couldn’t argue with that designation. While most JB athletes opt for team colorways on more popular silos, it’s obvious Bibby loved low tops because his sneaker resume is full of ’em. In fact, the most difficult part of this entry is to actually choose which PE is our favorite. While we like almost everything Bibby rocked, we’re partial to the his “Kings” colorways of the Air Jordan IX Low and the Air Jordan XIII Low.

Penny Hardaway

While Penny Hardaway is infamous for his own excellent signature line, as well as popularizing the Nike Foamposite silo, he also sported some clean Air Jordan PEs back in his early years. While he didn’t wear them too often, his Air Jordan IX game was proper.

Richard Hamilton

While we all know Rip Hamilton now for his ridiculous Instagram stunting, the boy also rocked some fire on court too. From GRs to PEs, Hamilton has been turning heads for sometime now, and he doesn’t appear to be stopping anytime soon.

Joe Johnson

Another fantastic individual player who has yet to belong to a championship caliber NBA team, Joe Johnson’s Jordan game is proper. While he rocked some amazing XII PEs back in his Atlanta Hawks days, our favorite of Johnson’s PEs are the recently spotted Air Jordan XVI PEs. We know JB isn’t into retroing the post-retirement Js very often, but these XVIs are just beautiful.

Russell Westbrook

While Russell Westbrook is our list’s most recent addition to the Jordan Brand family, his ranking this high on such a prodigious list shows just how much we think of him as an NBA player. And, while he hasn’t won a chip just yet, he’s the embodiment of the evolution of the point guard position. Tremendous from outside or in, dangerously quick and flamboyantly stylish, Westbrook is the total package. That and he’s got some crazy Jordan PEs, like his recently spotted “OKC” Air Jordan IIIs.

Mitch Richmond

This one is easy money. Mitch Richmond was a fantastic player throughout much of his career, and he had some great Jordan PEs along the way. Back in 2005, when Jordan Brand dropped the AJ X “City Pack,” Mitch Richmond was one of the primary reasons the “Sacramento” colorway got so much attention. And though the hype of today’s sneaker market has pushed the “Sacramento” Xs into legendary status, Richmond also rocked some awesome PEs, including some banging IXs.

Chris Paul

Chris Paul’s on-court game is like Goldilocks…every aspect of it is jusssst right. And though he’s got his excellent Jordan Brand signature line, CP3 has also rocked some amazing PEs (both on court and off). We love his Hornets Vs and VIIIs.

Carmelo Anthony

Even with his own Jordan Brand signature line, Carmelo Anthony is definitely in the conversation for best Jordan PEs of all time. Prior to his Melo signature line, Carmelo rocked endless dope Jordan PEs, including our favorite, the Air Jordan XIII “Nuggets” Away PE.

Gary Payton

Over the course of his 17-year NBA career, Gary Payton was one of the best point guards in the league. And while he ‘only’ has one NBA Championship on his resume, his sneaker legacy has been significant. Not only did he popularize his excellent (and recently retro’ed) Nike “The Glove” signature line, but he rocked some fantastic Jordan PEs along the way too.

Dwyane Wade

When Dwyane Wade made the jump from Converse (yep, Converse) to Jordan Brand back in 2009, he was instantly the face of the brand. And, while Flash may not have been known for his wide variety of Jordan PEs, he did have a few bangers like the Heat-inspired Air Jordan XII and the eye-catching All-Star Air Jordan 2010s. Even though Wade has already moved on from JB, his on-court game (and three championship rings) place him in the upper echelon of Jordan Brand athletes.

Ray Allen

It’s no secret, Ray Allen is arguably the undisputed Jordan PE champ. Combine his prolific sneaker game with his deadly three-point shooting and three championship rings (and counting?), and you see why Jesus Shuttlesworth made a placement this high on our list. Honestly, we’ll never forget him strapping up his “Ring Night” Air Jordan XI PEs (both times).

Kevin Garnett

Sure, Kevin “Big Ticket” Garnett is likely best known for his monster adidas contract, KG sported Jordans early and often in his high-school-straight-to-the-NBA career. We’ll never forget when he wore the legendary “Columbia” Air Jordan XI while playing against MJ himself in 1996.

Allen Iverson

Okay, so Allen Iverson was a Reebok signature athlete his entire career, and these pics aren’t from his PRO playing days. But back when he was a Georgetown Hoya, and coincidentally one of the best college ballers of his time, he loved breaking ankles in the “Concord” Air Jordan XI.

Charles Barkley

We all know Chuck fell just short of winning a ring, but you can’t ALWAYS measure a player’s significance by the amount of championships they’ve won…just ask Karl Malone. And while Barkley may have popularized his own Nike signature silhouettes throughout his career, don’t forget: he also rocked some dope Jordans along the way as well. We’ll be honest, it actually looks a bit strange seeing him sporting Jordans. Especially considering his rivalry with MJ during their playing days.

Kobe Bryant

Five championship rings? Check. One of the greatest players to ever touch a basketball? Check. Ridiculous sneaker game? Check and mate. Many forget that, while Kobe was in between sneaker deals, he sported a few fantastic Jordan PEs. Some even while playing against MJ himself. While we’re partial to the “Lakers” Air Jordan III PE, the VIII PE is absolutely out of control as well.

Michael Jordan

Was there ever any question that MJ would top this list? No matter how you rank it – by skill, or sneaker game – His Airness takes the top slot by a country mile. All hail the Jumpman!
